Help us thread the needle…
Who we are
San Francisco School of Needlework and Design (SNAD) is a unique institution in the United States, bridging education, wellness, and art. SNAD brings people together to preserve the heritage craft of hand embroidery, aiming to ensure its future as a valued art form in the 21st century. SNAD promotes community, cultural connections, and the healing benefits of practicing a time-honored craft in a creative environment of master instructors and supportive peers. We are engaging interactive intergenerational communities, together and individually, to explore creative, artistic and professional pursuits. Hand embroidery is a slow-craft – peaceful and meditative – it is experiencing a renewed interest globally and across age groups. Our programs provide people a way to connect, create, and share.
What is this Fundraiser for?
In order to lessen economic barriers and encourage as many people as possible to stitch, we offer scholarship seats and a reduced price for our introduction and beginner classes.
Your support will:
- Bridge the gap between the reduced price and the actual cost to produce the beginner classes
- Sustain and grow our scholarship seat program
Why a fundraiser now?
Reaching our goal of $3,000 makes us eligible to be considered for a $50,000 grant from the Gannett Foundation through A Community Thrives. If we receive this $50,000 grant, we would use it to support our Stitch-At-Home Challenge program.
