Prostate Cancer Foundation BC
Prostate Cancer is a disease that affects 1 in 3 men in Canada. As a woman, it can be devastating to watch the men in my life face such an invasive, life altering disease and be so helpless.
My husband, Don, has been fighting prostate cancer for 7 years. He is living proof that a combination of rigorous exercise, a healthy diet, and a positive perspective along with the help of dedicated and innovative medical teams works. Don spends many hours supporting others with prostate cancer and I like to do my best to support him including running to raise funds for this cause.
I also have two sons. If your father or brother has prostate cancer, it dramatically increases your chances of being diagnosed with Prostate Cancer. We want everyone to know that if caught early, it is curable 90% of the time! We are running to spread this message and encourage our men to get checked.
I, along with 8 of my family and friends, am running in the BMO 1/2 marathon to raise money and awareness and funds for the Prostate Cancer Foundation of BC. Excellence in treatment matters and supporting research for a cure is the first step to ensuring that future generations will live in a world without Prostate Cancer.
We refuse to sit idle while our men are suffering.
THIS ONE'S FOR THE BOYS.
