My name is Sydney, and this year, my friends and I have taken the challenge to bring the Third Annual Maddie Potts 5k to life in a way that fits all social distancing guidelines. When Maddie passed away in September 2017, a hole was left in the Chariho community. Working together, the Maddie Potts Foundation has been able to bring our community together as a whole to support the Potts family and carry on Maddie’s legacy.
The Maddie Potts Foundation, over the past three years, has been able to provide scholarships and other opportunities for people all throughout the community. They are also currently working to build the Maddie Potts Memorial Field House on the Chariho campus. This facility will provide accommodations for all of the outdoor athletic teams, including locker rooms for the Chargers and the visiting team, along with an athletic training room.
In hosting a virtual event, it brings new opportunities for people who would not have regularly been able to attend, to take part in our cause. We encourage you to send this link to your friends and family, and even share it on social media!
We partnering with Positive Tracks, an organization that teaches young people how to sweat for good. In addition to supporting our effort, they will also match up to $100 that we raise for the Maddie Potts Foundation.
