My friend Kyle was diagnosed with Batten Disease as a child. Batten disease is a nervous system disorder that causes blindness, seizures, speech and motor skill problems, dementia, and ultimately death. While the life expectancy for the disease is usually late teens to early 20s, Kyle beat the odds, but unfortunately passed away in May, just 4 months shy of his 30th birthday.
Kyle was a big part of my life, despite his impairment, he did everything all kids do, if not more! Kyle introduced me to the wonderful world of Pokemon during the Pokemon craze of the late 90's. Pokemon remained a staple in my life, always a game I'd go back to, and I'd always look forward to the new releases. Even today!
I would like to honour Kyle's memory by playing a game both of us LOVED during our childhood while raising money to help raise awareness and help those who live with Batten Disease. On Saturday, November 30th, I will be playing Pokemon Red in one sitting on stream (https://twitch.tv/thenickster15) while raising money for the Batten Disease Support and Research Association (BDSRA). Please help me by supporting the cause, or spreading the word! Every penny counts!
$100 - Shark Onesie for rest of the stream
