The Appointed Place, Inc. is a Georgia nonprofit 501(c)(3) transitional housing organization located in Stone Mountain, GA. Our mission is to alleviate homelessness among single parent families by inspiring positive personal and economic belief systems which foster financial independence. We fulfill our mission each day by providing access to transitional housing and non-residential housing resources that remove barriers to employment and economic success for low-income single parent-led families in our target area.
Our organization was founded in 2017 by Danielle Durham out of her concern for the growing number of single parent families that are homeless or at risk for homelessness due to unemployment or employment in jobs that do not pay livable wages. From personal experience, Ms. Durham was keenly aware that solving the issues facing low-income single parents would be greater than anything that she could do alone. So, she formed a capable board, secured relevant partners, and began assisting single parents in reframing their personal and economic situation to one of self-empowerment. To lessen many of the challenges to self-sufficiency and general well-being that are often faced by single parents, we developed our signature program in DeKalb County, GA called “The Appointed Place Family Options Program.” Also known as the “TAP Family Options.”
TAP Family Options is a transitional housing program that provides short-term housing and housing supports for up to 24 months.
