My name is Zak Karim and I started my fundraiser called the 2:10 project at the age of 9. My mission has always been to help less fortunate children in the world. I have been raising money every year to help children in countries like Afghanistan, Tanzania, Pakistan and many more. I was very fortunate to meet Craig Kielburger the founder of the WE organization. After meeting him I felt that this was my opportunity to start my own charity to help kids in Tanzania, the country that my dad is from. I feel that I am very lucky to have clean water, food, and a great education. The money that I raise will go towards water, food, and education to children in Tanzania. I came up with the idea 2:10.
Why 2:10? I believe that I can help kids with just $2.00. $2.00 is not a lot to ask of people. Everyone has two dollars in their wallet or purse. The way 2:10 works is like this: I will give $2.00, then I will get 10 people to donate $2.00 and then each of those ten people will each get 10 of their friends to donate $2.00 and it will keep going on and on until I reach my goal of $10,000. This may seem like a lot but I believe that anything is possible. If we work together, we can accomplish this goal. I would like to ask all of you to help me in reaching my goal because I believe that we can make a difference with $2.00. We need to spread the word by asking all of our friends and family to donate. Thank you for your time and together we can make a real difference in people's lives!
*please note that the minimum online donation for this fundraiser is $10 - you can get together with your friends to make the donation online, or come talk to me and I can help you make a cash donation!
