The Well of Waterford, a 1901 renovated farmhouse, has become a daytime gathering place for women and girls to drink the Living Water. We know every soul thirsts for purpose, love, and acceptance. Sometimes we try to satisfy that thirst through addiction and destructive behavior. Our message is that only Jesus can satisfy our thirsty souls. Our mission is for every woman and girl that enters our home to be refreshed and reminded of God's love and forgiveness.
At The Well, we offer a wide variety of programming and experiences to create long lasting memories. Some of these elements may include testimonies, group therapy sessions, family-style meals, crafts, teas, art therapy, themed gatherings, life-skill classes, and team building. We exist to be a blessing to the community.
While The Well normally hosts an annual fundraising banquet to cover the cost of its needs, the banquet was cancelled due to the COVID-19 pandemic. We have been looking forward to starting this online fundraiser to make you aware of some very sobering information that has led to an expansion of The Well’s vision.
EXPANSION OF THE WELL'S VISION:
The Well has become very aware of the need for housing in Oakland County. Did you know that 23,000 children age out of foster care every year in the US? 40% of those children will experience homelessness by age 21. 25% of those children are dealing with PTSD. 3% of those children will get a four-year college degree despite 70% of them voicing a desire to go to college.
Girls who are transitioning out of foster care, girls who are experiencing homelessness, and girls who are living with the effects of toxic home environments are left with little to no options.
Without stability or support, what are these young women to do? Where are they to go? Can we do anything to help? We can, and we will.
The Well has a goal of opening an Independent Living Home called "Healing Springs" for women aged 18-25 before the end of 2020. Healing Springs will be a comprehensive, Christ-centered program for young women in need of support transitioning into adulthood. Healing Springs' mission will be to provide these young women with safe, affordable housing, life skills, therapy, and biblical instruction so that they can achieve independence and make meaningful contributions to society.
100% of your donations will go towards:
- Covering The Well's annual budget ($50,000)
- Covering Healing Spring's First Year budget ($50,000)
