TAD (Talk About Depression)
It started with a text.
June 30th, 2017 I got a text from my best friend stating “I don’t want to live anymore”. From the time we were 10 years old, I have known him to be the person I can go to with any problem I have.
This lifelong friend of mine had succeeded in all areas of his life and was seemingly on track to achieve great things. He was the last person I would have suspected to be questioning his own life in that moment.
When my friend was in crisis, I was completely overwhelmed and not sure how to find resources. It was confusing, which is the last thing you need in a crisis situation.
We are launching an online tool, modeled after the same protocols that 9-1-1 operators use when they receive a suicide-related call. This approach helps identify how to help the person in need and it’s important that this resource is available online.
To underwrite Talk About Depression’s launch, we have a $25,000 goal — no small undertaking. Yet for those who struggle with mental illness and even considering suicide, we must do better!
Your support helps us launch our online crisis assessment, a vital tool for helping people find the support they need.
No matter the amount you contribute, you’re making a big difference in people’s lives. These funds will cover costs for development of the tool and help raise awareness in order to get these resources to people that need it most. We know the importance of our work will be even more important as we continue through the current health crisis. You can help us make this happen by donating now!
