Come October 13, 2019, I will be running 26.2 miles in support of The Sports Shed at the Bank of America Chicago Marathon!
From a young age, I have always been very competitive - playing basketball, soccer, and golf. Over the past few years, that drive has grown and expanded into endurance competitions. In 2014, I completed my first Tough Mudder. In 2015, I rode in the Indiana University Little 500 cycling race. In 2016, I ran the Chicago Humana Rock'n'Roll 10K race. And in 2018, I ran in the Chicago Humana Rock'n'Roll Half Marathon.
In 2019, I am running the Marathon on behalf of The Sports Shed because I firmly stand behind and support the organization's purpose and mission. Children and teenagers all across the country, and even in our own neighborhoods, lack the proper gear and equipment to get out there and play. The Sports Shed makes it possible for kids in under-resourced areas to have positive alternatives to gangs, violence, and drugs through organized sports. It's amazing how big of an impact sports and the camaraderie around it can have on a person's life and helping fulfill that is what this organization aims to do.
I'm thoroughly excited to train in this endeavor, however, I can't do it alone... I need your help. Making a difference in the community is a team effort and my personal goal is to raise $1,250 for The Sports Shed! Every little bit helps and is greatly appreciated!
