CELEBRATING OUR PAST
Founded in 1987 by Rita Rice Ledford and Ginger Parnell, Greensboro’s first – and only – full-time school dedicated to students with learning disabilities is an important resource to Greensboro and the surrounding area. Ms. Ledford and Ms. Parnell built Noble Academy, formerly known as Guilford Day School, to serve a need in our community that was not being met by the public or private schools in the area. The vision of Ms. Ledford and Ms. Parnell to offer a college preparatory program for children with learning disabilities has never been clearer. Today, our 30+-acre campus has the capacity to serve 225 students in grades K-12. At Noble Academy, students with learning disabilities are no longer different. They interact with others like themselves and find both academic and social success. We celebrate that children with learning differences can learn anything, go anywhere and become anyone they want.
INVESTING IN OUR FUTURE
For the past 30 years, Guilford Day School/Noble Academy has been empowering students with learning differences to pursue their highest potential within a comprehensive, supportive educational environment. The Rita Rice Ledford and Ginger Parnell Alumni Scholarship, named in honor of our founders, will continue this tradition of excellence with scholarship funds for children of alumni who graduated from Guilford Day School and Noble Academy. This endowed scholarship fund is an investment in the future of Noble Academy. An endowment fund is a permanent, self-sustaining source of funding. Assets are invested and a portion of the value of the fund is paid out annually to support the fund’s purpose. If more than one alumni family applies, the scholarship will be divided equally among the qualified applicants.
HOW YOU CAN HELP
A Guilford Day School/Noble Academy education has already left a lasting impact on thousands of children in our community. Now, you can leave a lasting gift that will keep on growing and giving from one generation to the next. Our initial endowment goal for the Rita Rice Ledford and Ginger Parnell Alumni Scholarship is $50,000. Your generosity will build a greater Noble Academy and serve our students well into the future. It is our duty as parents, educators and community members to cultivate our children’s minds to their fullest potential, as they will lead us into a productive, progressive future. Together, we will ensure a Noble Academy education is within reach for the children of our alumni, who already understand that their education led to today’s opportunities.
