RETI Center is planning to build BlueCity, a floating village on the harbor in Red Hook. When it's finished, it will be a whole neighborhood powered by renewable energy and ready for climate change and higher seas.
To get started, we're inviting underprivileged kids from all over Brooklyn this June to participate in a creative workshop program at our home at 153 Coffey Street Studio to help us design the floating city they'd like to live in.
We'll be working with terrific nonprofits in the neighborhood, Red Hook Art Project and Good Shepherd Services, as well as our international design team: ONE Architecture, AESuperlab, thread collective, and Oasis Design Lab to create age-appropriate architecute and urban planning ideas with kids from age 3 to 21 using super fun 3Dux connectors, hand sketching, 3D modeling, 3D printing, and more.
The ideas the kids come up with will be displayed on a LAGI solar mural overlooking the future site of the BlueCity on New York Harbor.
We're excited to start this project that's focused on environmental justice and renewable energy for our low-income community, and we need your support.
