Since the Putnam Chorale began singing in 1984, we have never cancelled a performance, but this year, our spring and fall season have been cancelled. It may not have crossed your mind that choral singers are especially hampered now during the pandemic. Choruses have limited options. A string quartet can wear masks and separate. Solo performers can and do perform online from their studios. But the normal shoulder-to-shoulder exuberance of 50 singers and orchestra entertaining 150 guests will be one of the last performing events to return. The financial stress is every bit as impactful to us as the social stress. Without a normal spring concert season, we received no program advertising revenue, very few donations, reduced grants, and no ticket sales. The Chorale is expecting a shortfall of several thousand dollars for the 2019-2020 fiscal year. Help bring the music back, with a donation to our Chorale, and hear us sing once again!
