Jeanne and I experienced a punch in the stomach in December 2018. My wife received the life changing words… “you have breast cancer”. What do you do but just hold each other and cry? I told her that we will figure this out and get through this together. The result was 4 operations including a bi-lateral mastectomy and treatment. Her Cancer is now managed by a daily Aromatase Inhibitor for the rest of her life.
Jeanne and I cried together, prayed together and worked together acquiring the positive mind set to conquer this non-discriminating disease. We worked with an amazing Oncologist and surgical team. The positive is that Jeanne is doing well and is back to a “new normal” daily routine.
During this process we met many wonderful people. I wondered how I could help people with this life changing disease. April, 2019 I decided to fund raise for The Pink Chair Project; a local nonprofit group raising money for breast cancer support. We were introduced to Cara and Emmie Spath (Pink Chair Project), a local non-profit offering the use of Lift Sleep Recliners for post surgery breast cancer patient recovery support. They provide these chairs with help from Liam O’Keeffe (On the Mend Medical Supplies). I assembled a group of my workout partners and my Trainers, Darren Cain and Kristen Greene - Intense Personal Training to run in the 2019 NYC Marathon. I have never been a runner. This is my challenge. It’s a mindset and a mission to complete the 26.2 miles for my wife and the people that we know that have suffered in agonizing pain from this disease.
Please help us by donating to The Pink Chair Project. I thank you in advance for your generous contribution to this cause. Please contact me at firstname.lastname@example.org if you have any questions.
