Originally from NY State I came to New England to attain and maintain sobriety. Prior to getting sober my life was controlled by drugs and alcohol. There wasn't an area of my life that wasn't affected by addiction but I could not seem to break free, no mater how hard I tired. I have since found a solution and I am now happily and successfully sober for nine and a half years.
As a person in long-term recovery living a healthy lifestyle in mind, body and spirit are vitally important. My life actually depends on it. So I considered myself very fortunate to have found The Phoenix, as it provides all three! When I moved to the Boston area I didn't know many people and was looking to become more physically active. In The Phoenix I found both! This community has enabled me to become the very best version of myself. As team members strive to help and inspire others to do likewise.
All Phoenix events are free to anyone with at least 48 hours of continuous sobriety and are led by certified instructors who are peers in recovery. These can include, CrossFit, rock-climbing, weight lifting, Yoga, running, surfing, meditation, HIIT and cycling.
In case you are not aware it is extremely beneficial to people in recovery, especially in the early days, to establish connections with positive communities and to replace damaging habits with healthier new ones. With your help we can continue with our programming that makes a huge impact at a time when it is needed most.
