As former Editor in Chief and current President of The Offing's non-profit board of directors, I invite you to join me in making a donation to our publication. I know you're being asked by a lot of great causes to make a donation, especially as we round out the year. Art is a practice that sustains and supports our humanity, and during a time when our humanity is so threatened, we must recommit to the future we want. Literary and visual art are part of the future I want. If you feel the same, please consider making a donation. Only have $5 to share? Thank you for it! If you've got $500, we'll take that too. Can't afford to donate? Please circulate this call! Thank you!
More on what The Offing is:
The Offing is an online literary magazine publishing creative writing in all genres and art in all media. We publish work that challenges, experiments, provokes — work that pushes literary and artistic forms and conventions. This is a place for new and emerging writers to test their voices, and for established writers to test their limits. We actively seek out and support work by and about those often marginalized in literary spaces.
Thanks to your generosity the last two holiday seasons, you waived all submission fees for 2018 and 2019. And you can do that again for 2020!
The Offing believes that writers and artists deserve to be compensated for their work, and we pay our contributors. We are working diligently, with your help, to raise the funds to increase our current honoraria amounts and to offer stipends to our editorial staff. We hope to eventually become sustained through a combination of multiple funding sources. This fundraiser and the community support that comes with it is just the beginning.
Your donation does work:
- Your $20 donation waives the submission fee for 7 aspiring writers
- Your $25 donation pays a published poet for their work
- Your $60 donation pays a published author for their longer-form work (e.g., Fiction, Essay, a Poetry submission with multiple poems)
- Your $100 donation keeps The Offing website up & running for an entire month
Now, more than ever, art, poetry, and all forms of creative writing need to be nurtured and sustained. Your generosity makes that happen.
