My name is Kyla McHaffie and I am honored to be a part of The New England Center for Children 2020 Boston Marathon Team!
I live in Uxbridge, MA with my husband Matt and our four children Gwen (5), Charlie (3), James (2), and Kieran (5 months).
I have been working at The New England Center for Children (NECC) for 10 years. I have been a teacher in both the residential and day programs, Assistant to the CEO, and am currently a specialist in the Office of Enrollment and Family Support.
Thanks to NECC I have received my Masters in Applied Behavior Analysis through their onsite Western New England University masters program. I am a Board Certified Behavior Analyst and Licensed Applied Behavior Analyst.
I am inspired by our students everyday. Watching them learn and increase independence is extremely rewarding. I feel very fortunate to work at such an amazing organization committed to both students and staff.
Today, the CDC estimates the current rate of autism at 1 in 59 children. The yearly cost to the United States is a staggering $236 billion a year. Children who are diagnosed early and receive intensive behavioral instruction, and children who receive top services, have the best outcomes.
That’s where we help. We’re more than a school, we’re an autism research institute helping children with autism live more independent lives. We’re unique because of our three-pronged approach to intervention: education, research, and technology. And our model is scalable to programs around the world.
All donations to NECC fund research on early intensive behavioral instruction, ensure students have the best equipment to meet individual learning needs, provide vocational training, support graduate training opportunities for teachers, promote our ACE® Software System, and allow us to share educational research findings with clinicians and teachers around the world.
By supporting NECC, YOU are leading the way in autism education and research.
