On 1/13/2009 my life forever changed. That was the day my father (John C Patzke) was diagnosed with Glioblastoma Multiforme (brain cancer). My family and I spent the next 23 months fighting this horrific disease to no avail. During that time we explored ALL our options and spent endless resources on getting the most advanced care possible for my dad. On 11/28/2010 he passed away. John was a fighter and I will never forget his drive. He supplied me with everything I needed to become who I am today.
Being a member of the medical community it has always humbled me to be on the other side of disease and suffering. I never realized what people went through until this time. Disease is much more than something that can kill you. It is something that affects the entire family, not just those afflicted. I have since made a decision to try and raise money and awareness to those that support the support.
The McCourt Foundation has dedicated its exhistance to helping families suffering through life-altering illnesses (many of which suffer from neurological diseases). They have helped countless families and I am proud to run for their 2020 team. Please donate what you feel you can to help stop the suffering and support me in my run in Boston 2020.
