The Kutiya Project (Meditation Hut)
This campaign is to raise funds to upgrade the existing two meditation huts at the Pennsylvania meditation center. The renovation will include adding a bathroom, running water, electricity, heating and cooling, a patio, and a patio window to each hut.
Our aim is to make these huts usable in all seasons, night and day for monks and laypeople to meditate. This will provide the meditators an opportunity to meditate continuously for longer periods, day or night, winter or summer, without any disturbance or interruptions, providing the optimal conditions to develop their meditation and mind.
Throughout the Sutta Piṭaka, we come across many stories and meritorious deeds of laypeople, gods, and other beings helping the Buddhas and the monks by providing similar opportunities and comfort to develop their meditation. One such story that comes to mind is how venerable Anuruddha in his past life saw Sumedha Buddha meditating alone under a tree in the night. Seeing this, he set up lights all around him and replenished them with fuel for seven days. As a karmic result, he became the king of the devas for thirty eons and a human king twenty-eight times. Also, similar deeds later in his past lives led him to achieve mastery over certain meditation techniques.
It is our belief that helping such causes will definitely win us good merit that would lead to wealth, happiness, and achieve success in our own meditation practice in this life and the next.
Thank you for your generous contribution and for joining our worthy cause.
