The Justice League is running in the Crescent City Classic for the sixth year in a row to support the Promise of Justice Initiative's (PJI) Client and Family Assistance Program.
Our program supports the everyday, personal welfare needs of our clients -- providing them with books to read, music to listen to, money for hygiene products, glasses, and warm clothes for the winter. In addition, we work to coordinate family trips to the Louisiana State Penitentiary and provides funds to cover the cost of phone calls fees, allowing our clients to speak to and visit with their loved ones regularly. Reconnecting families who have been estranged is critical to breaking the cycle of incarceration and fostering stronger communities whose bonds can overcome the difficulty that incarceration presents.
PJI was established as part of the Capital Appeals Project to reduce the harmful effects of incarceration on the families and communities left behind by Louisiana’s high incarceration rate. So please, consider donating and supporting their dedicated legal teams as they prepare for this race!
