PAWSitive Connections formed in July 2020 in the midst of the COVID-19 pandemic. Seems silly to start a nonprofit during a pandemic, right?! Ashley Rich, the director of PAWSitive Connections started this nonprofit with the goal of bridging her passions of the healing power of animals and teaching struggling students. Ashley has been in the educational field for thirteen years working with students of all backgrounds with a focus on students who have learning challenges, mental illness, and who have or continue to experience trauma.
Research states that therapy dogs within a classroom increase children’s focus, empathy, social emotional regulation, communication, and increased literacy scores. The research also states that there are short term and long term benefits for students from having access to a therapy dog intervention.
Meet Hendrix! Hendrix is the first therapy dog in training for us! We need your help! Hendrix is going to have lots of training, materials, travel costs, and due to emergency life saving surgery he will need lifelong prescription food. Please consider helping this new nonprofit get off it's feet and soar!
