My dad, Jack Cavanagh, lost his second battle with cancer 1 year ago today, on June 2nd, 2020. In his memory, I'm walking 30 miles for the 30 days of June, which is Cancer Survivor Month. While he lost his second battle, he was his doctor's longest surviving cancer patient after his first battle, which gave us more than a decade of extra laughs, love, blessings, gratitude and hope.
Anyone that knew him knew of his love for his family, friends, God, Disney, animals, sports and his community. He was kind, generous, funny, thoughtful, honorable, calm and strong. It brings me peace knowing that he's no longer in pain and is watching over us, keeping us safe. Although his passing has been incredibly sad and painful, I try to live as he would and choose joy and peace everyday because he would never want any of us to be sad over him.
Any donation is greatly appreciated to fund cancer research and to stop families from having this heartbreaking loss time and time again.
