I am incredibly grateful and excited to train this year as a part of the Herren Project 2020 Boston team.
Although there have been some bumps in the road, this journey has been once in a lifetime, and I'm honored to go through this process with some incredible teammates. 6 more months of training, fundraising, awareness, and spreading the word!
Herren Project was first introduced to me back in high school, when Chris Herren came to our gymnasium to speak. At the time I wasn’t really aware of how much his story would affect me personally, but on August 8, 2018, my family lost an incredibly important piece of our world to an accidental overdose.
Michael was a cousin to me – he was also a brother, son, friend, and nephew to all of the most important people in my life. I’m running for Michael, for my family, for my Auntie Patti, Uncle Jimmy, Shannon, Patrick, and Alyssa, and for all the other individuals and families affected by substance use disorder.
I hope that my participation brings awareness of this epidemic to my community and helps end the stigma surrounding substance abuse.
Herren Project is a 501(c)3 non-profit foundation established in 2011 by former NBA basketball player Chris Herren. Together we recover...as we support, inspire & empower those affected by substance use disorder. www,herrenproject.org
