I am truly humbled and beyond thrilled to run the 2020 Boston Marathon for Herren Project, a 501(c)3 nonprofit focused on treatment, recovery, and prevention of substance use disorder.
Herren Project was established in 2011 by former Boston Celtics prodigy Chris Herren, who struggled throughout his career with substance use disorder. After overdosing and losing nearly everything, Chris is now 11 years sober.
Today, Herren Project assists individuals and families with treatment placement services to ensure that those in need get into the right treatment center quickly, easily, and affordably -- without having to navigate the incredibly complex treatment web.
They help individuals through every stage of recovery, providing long-term recovery support for individuals and families, financial support for treatment programs, and recovery housing.
Finally, they work in our schools and communities to provide prevention and public awareness programs to educate about substance use disorder and reduce stigma.
