The Shared Spaces Foundation is a nonprofit based in Seattle, WA focused on restorative justice through land restoration and sustainable education. In partnership with many local communities and organizations we are working towards bringing a green shared space back to life in the Duwamish River Valley. Perched above the Duwamish River just south of the Duwamish Longhouse and Cultural Center is an area for people to gather, learn, and grow together. Please help this community restore the land and impede the continued pollution and development around the Duwamish River Valley.
We aim to build outdoor community facilities to serve as a space for communal education, collaboration, and restoration. Specific amenities will include a tool library, workshop, outdoor kitchen, covered outdoor meeting spaces, temporary accommodations, outhouses, and tool storage. The construction of these facilities will also include a native plant regrowth initiative, invasive plant species removal, the cultivation of native crops, and access to the Ridge to River trail.
Local community members will act as stewards of the land and the Duwamish Tribe will be the main beneficiary to the area.
