Friends and Family, Outside of work, I donate my time and talents to local charitable efforts focused on raising money for at-risk Bay Area youth.
I do this through an all-volunteer organization that puts on events in the Bay Area called The Guardsmen. The Guardsmen raises more than $1 million annually. Those funds allow the organization to send over 2,500 kids to camp and to outdoor education programs each year, and provide scholarships to more than 250 students at 78 private schools. The Guardsmen is committed to making sure that fundraising dollars are spent wisely, with the greatest need and highest returns always in mind. Approximately 97 cents of every dollar raised goes directly to support programs for kids.
This year The Guardsmen is launching and producing a new large scale outdoor pumpkin patch down at Fort Mason in San Francisco on October 21st - October 25th. We will be located directly next to Fort Mason Farmers Market, Off The Grid Food Trucks and the newly launched Fort Mason Outdoor Movie Theatre.Guardsmen has put on countless philanthropic events since 1947, most significantly our long-running Christmas Tree Lot at Fort Mason’s Festival Pavilion. Our knowledge from operating a seasonal “pop-up” business at Fort Mason Center provides natural synergies with operating a pumpkin patch. Given the notable lack of pumpkin patches in San Francisco, The Guardsmen are excited to provide a local option for San Francisco families while concurrently serving the broader Bay Area community.
While practicing safe COVID-19 social distancing protocols, we are expecting over hundreds of families from all over the bay to head down to Fort Mason for a fun and family orientated pumpkin patch. I hope you can join us for a pumpkin beer, pumpkin latte and some to go cocktails!
In addition to managing several aspects of the event, each Guardsmen has a responsibility to fund raise.
If you'd like to support me and my fellow Guardsmen in fundraising for local at-risk kids, please do so and donate here!
