Glen was way more than a workout partner and a roommate, he was a best friend and the person you could confide in for anything. He was one of my all time favorite training partners. Whether it was a long run, bike ride, yoga class or crossfit grinder, we were always pushing oursleves and always having a blast doing it. This race will not be my first for GDMF, and it most certaintly won't be my last. Glen's legacy is the foundation of this organization along with helping military families throughout our country, and I'm so grateful to be one of the team's runners this year.
A little about the Glen Doherty Memorial Foundation for those of you new to my page: Glen Doherty is an American hero, former Navy SEAL and contractor for the CIA when he was involved in the 9/11 attacks in Benghazi. It was there at the CIA compound that he would make the ultimate sacrife. GDMF was formed shortly after to give back and honor Glen's life as someone who served this country day in and day out. To this day, GDMF has been able to give dozens of scholarships to military members and their family for continued education.
The NYC marathon will be my 10th marathon and I absolutely loooovvvvveee running! I took a little break from running long distance to have my 2 darling little babies, Sebastian (3) and Lucy (1), and now I'm ready to lace back up and put in the miles. I'm thrilled to be training and doing it for such a great cause, and I'm excited to connect with so many other great runners along the way. I've been so excited to run NYC and this has been on my bucket list for so many years. Huge thanks to my hubby for taking on the kids so I can hit the ground running (quite literally). And.... and huge thanks to all of you for helping me with my fundraising goal and supporting me through all of these miles.
