Our story is like so many right now. Camp Beausite was hit hard due to COVID 19 and has experienced a total income loss for 2020, over $250,000. Summer camp was cancelled. Respite programs were cancelled. Fundraisers were cancelled. Grants and foundations shifted their funding priorities. The list is long. The challenges are real.
We are working hard towards putting together a program that can run for 2021 - fingers crossed. In order for this to happen we have to financially accomplish FOUR things:
1) Bridge the Gap - We need to cover our operating expenses through June 2021. Spring weekend camps, 2021 planning which starts NOW. Summer planning and finances going into the camp season (we have to have $100K in the bank to start summer with).
2) Safety Measures - We need to be able to purchase new safety equipment for the future of camp running while in the midst of COVID. Hands free sanitizing stations, hands free hand washing stations, hands free water bottle filling stations, personal protective equipment for campers and staff, food service equipment, UV lights, and facility disinfectants.
3) Staff Training - We will need to bring all of our staff in for additional days of training for new protocols and procedures for EVERYTHING that we do. Much has changed and smooth change starts with training.
4) Social Distanced Programming - Our programs are based on being social with each other. We are going to continue to make this a reality for our campers. In order to do that, we need to adjust some of our programs, activities, safety set ups, etc.
Camp Beausite will need over $100,000 to make all of this a reality and to set our future up for success. We know that you have a great many choices for giving and donating. We hope that you will consider helping us help our campers and families come back to camp and get the respite that they so desperately need and deserve.
