Nedra is starting this and hopes friends, strangers, fellow volunteers and strangers will join a walk in Huntington Beach Central Park at 9am on Saturday July 31! Any breed or dog welcome, walk one of my dogs if you don't have one..... It takes a village to save Goldens!!! If you can't join me, please donate!
Nedra / Tana / Keenan / Gody: I started this journey with SCGRR after the loss of my second Golden (first to lose) - Knute - to Mast Cell Cancer. Although he was from a reputable breeder, I had always been rescue-minded and wanted to give back in his honor. I do this walk in honor now of my recently departed Tana - first SCGRR rescue to join my pack and fondly known as "the red devil". He was a weak parvo puppy dumped in a cardboard box at the shelter that SCGRR saved. I plan to walk with my Turkey Dogs - Keenan and Gody.
Join me. Sponsor me. Send me your story if you are walking and I will add it!
Karen / Cait / Sirona: Amazing Volunteers and Fosters, these gals "foster failed" with sweet Sirona who had a lengthy stay and many vet visits. You see, she had a grapefruit sized mass on her neck that was pressing on her neck making it difficult to swallow - dumped at the shelter likely because of it. It was benign but quite the healing process. Today she is a happy and very loved Golden!
Laurel / Eilish and Gatsby: Laurel is another fab volunteer and "Rep" for SCGRR. She stepped up to foster Eilish in a pinch. During their time together, Eilish blossomed with good nutrition, love and hand-made no-slip socks! Gatsby even let her have all the toys. And so it was meant to be! Eilish still has some mobility issues but will bring her wagon so she can walk in style!
Laurie / "Carmichael" aka Tucker and Gidget: LaurieM is a fab volunteer as well...jumping in after adopting a neglected SCGRR pup named "Carmichael" in late 2020. He is now known as Tucker and is happy as a clam living with Golden sibling Gidget!
Tycanne: We adopted Rex, who loved his tennis ball, at age 10 from SCGRR and Kiddo, who was the gentle giant, at age 9 prior to being volunteers. Both have passed over the rainbow bridge and we will join Nedra to support SCGRR in their memory.
Darlene / Vader / Littlefoot: Vader was a rescue from Turkey - tall, dark and handsome. Littlefoot is just always along for the ride and looks like an Ewok. Sadly, Permanent Foster Sierra crossed the rainbow bridge recently and will be cheering us on from there.
MaryG / Callie: Callie and her brother came to SCGRR when their dad had to go into an assisted living facility. They had been continuing to visit him but then brother Cody succombed to cancer so it's just Callie these days. She is loving life with dedicated volunteer Mary.
Julie / John / Mango: Mango landed in just the right place with dedicated volunteers and pinch-hit fosters Julie & John. Mango was blind and they had just lost their beloved senior Callie. Well even though Mango wasn't a girl, they still fell in love and decided he could stay put. His lack of sight doesn't slow him down one bit!
