Our lives have been on pause because of COVID-19 and although we may feel isolated, I am proposing a way to celebrate our community spirit with a simple and fun photography project. The aim of this project is to highlight the faces of our community, while also helping those in need.
My name is Cindy Gold and I have been a professional photographer for 30+ years. My work is focused on capturing images of families and people during joyous and memorable moments, in addition to covering charitable and corporate events.
The Front Steps Project was launched by two MA photographers in March 2020. To date, over 200 photographers across the country have participated in community photos, raising over $1M to support local, deserving nonprofits during this difficult time.
Want to participate? Here’s how it works:
- Schedule a time for a five-minute, socially-distant photoshoot capturing images of you and your quarantine companions (pets welcome!)
- You can wear anything from PJs to pizazz - you can get as creative as you want After the shoot, the images will be sent to you via a digital link and posted on Facebook and Instagram with the hashtag #thefrontstepsproject
- In support of this initiative, we request that you make a donation to the Alameda County Community Food Bank. The suggested amount is $50, but any amount is appreciated
