An important part of the Eight Oaks mission is to be a good neighbor and a positive force in our community. Each transaction includes a donation to your choice of one of our three charitable partners, including Tails of Valor.
The love of a dog is a powerful tonic, and to Veterans with PTSD a service dog is a lifeline.
Tails of Valor Saves Two Lives by rescuing unwanted puppies and training them as service dogs for Veterans in need. Thanks to the support of our customers during our Summer 2018 Dog Stories campaign, we were able to raise the money for Tails of Valor to rescue a puppy.
Meet Wargo! Every Tails of Valor dog is named in honor of a fallen hero. Our pup was named for Army SPC Michael C. Wargo who served in Afghanistan, and lost his struggle with PTSD in 2013.
A service dog in training. Eight Oaks is supporting the cost of training Wargo. During the next 16-20 months he will learn more than 100 exposures of everyday living and more than 40 commands. While in training, Wargo will be part of the TOV Canine Connections animal-assisted therapy offered at key VA hospitals and through other Pennsylvania-based health facilities. Upon graduation, he will be paired with his forever Veteran.
You can help! It's as simple as choosing Tails of Valor whenever you make a transaction at an Eight Oaks retailer or our tasting room. The donation is made by Eight Oaks, not you. Plus, keep an eye out for special Eight Oaks promotions and fundraising events. But if you would like to make a direct donation you can also do so here, or go to tailsofvalor.org.
