WHEN AND WHERE? The Co-op School’s 3rd Annual Open Mic-A-Thon Sunday, May 20 from 2-4PM in the 87 Irving Place Rec Room. Hosted by Kali Barnett.
WHAT IS IT? Anyone in our Co-op community can sign up to perform - that’s right - ANYONE! Students, Siblings, Alumni, Parents, Teachers, even YOU! I’m sure we have a family band or two in our midst. Each performer gets 5 minutes.
As with a Walk-A-Thon, performers will get friends and family to pledge and sponsor them: set up your fundraising team (helpful hint use the name of you act or just your name) or donate directly to the cause. Our goal is to raise $5000 for the music program!
What can you do? Anything! Some examples:— Jonathan takes violin lessons. He wants to play his favorite piece.— A classroom wants to sing their favorite Beatles song together.— Emilio, Angela and Jeremy start a new singing group called “Three Ninjagos” and want to sing their new song, “This Ninjago Wants More Pizza." —Our fishing teacher is a secret karaoke champion and cannot wait to wow us with “More Than a Feeling.”— Michelangelo’s dad is in an indie-rock band and they’re AWESOME and going to play us their hit song, “Surfin’ Sewer Rat.” — I could go on and on. Dancing, Story-telling, Monologues, Performance Art, Live Painting. It’s up to you! You have 5 minutes. This is the biggest open mic of the year - prepare to wow and be wowed!! Get practicing and work together!
Please encourage your children to participate. Ask Kali for help with a song. If anyone needs an accompanist, we can arrange that, make sure to put that on the sign up sheet.
NOT A PERFORMER? No worries. We need volunteers, bake sale contributions, donations, and an audience. YOU CAN HELP. If you have Questions email Mikayla at the Music Committee.
