“When your heart speaks, take good notes”
On our way to the cape this summer, I saw this message on a sign in a church parking lot. The sign said, “When your heart speaks take good notes.” This church posts lots of good messages. This time, I pulled over and snapped a photo of it because its message really resonated with me.
How lucky we are…
Later that same day, the girls and I went to lunch. When I was heading back to our table from picking up our lunch at the counter, I entered a conversation the girls were having. It went something like this:
“You know Maeve, we’re really lucky, I mean we’re not lucky because Mommy is not with us, but I mean, we have so many people that love us and care about us. And we get to do so many fun things.” The girls then proceeded to name all the ways in which they were lucky and all the people who have been there and continue to be there for them, Saint Joe’s, all of their teachers they’ve ever had, Circle of Tapawingo, Wildflower, family and friends and of course The Children’s Room. It was at this moment that I was reminded of how lucky I am too. I am lucky to be surrounded by so many amazing people that continue to look out for us.
So....I’ve been taking good notes...
My heart has spoken, I’ve taken note and will be running the 2020 Boston Marathon for The Children’s Room once again. This will be my 5th year in a row running for TCR and I will run in honor of Diane for as long as I can. The first year I ran, I thought it would be a one and done thing, but I keep wanting to do more to support TCR . Our TCR experience continues to have a lasting impact on our lives as a family and I am so grateful for that. Last year, Maeve and her friends joined in by hosting a water station for the team on a couple of our long runs….so as you can see this experience is really starting to become more of a family affair. Who knows, maybe the girls will take over as runners some day so we can continue to keep this as our family traditon.
Your gift will mean a lot to us and many other families who are supported by TCR
By supporting my run, you will be supporting my family and so many others who receive support from the Children’s room. The Children’s room creates a safe and supportive community for children and their family’s. TCR believes that no child has to grieve alone. The Children’s Room services are free of charge and they rely on generous donations such as yours in order to do so. Some of the programs they provide are peer support groups at their Arlington location and in the Greater Boston Area. They also hold Parenting while Grieving Education Series, a Monthly Family Night arts-based program, teen programming, adult consultations, as well as information and referrals to families and professionals looking for additional grief-related services in their area.
Thank you....AGAIN Five times over...
