The last few months since my wonderful wife Katie suddenly passed have been a constant battle for us. Katie was a superstar mom to James, Maisie, Micaela and Hadley and all around great person. We miss her so much every day. There have been a lot of really tough times, but we're hanging in there. The kids and I are getting better at sharing memories of Mom, some touching, pretty much all of them funny.
From the moment I heard the horrible news that Katie was gone, my thoughts turned to the kids and how I could help them at this awful time. I was fortunate enough to have several people reach out to me about The Children's Room in Arlington, MA as a resource to help. We are currently attending bereavement peer support groups at The Children's Room and I know my kids have a sense of comfort being around others their age who have also experienced the tragic loss of a parent.
I've become a bit of a runner over the last few years, completing a number of half marathons and a three full marathons. I've said that running is my therapy, but those words have never been more true than they are now. Nothing clears the head and raises your spirits like a good run. Shortly after I made contact with The Children's Room, I received an email with information about their marathon team and thought, if ever there was a time to run Boston, this is it.
I'm running the Boston Marathon in 2020 for Katie and The Children's Room. They do incredible work for kids and families who find themselves in our really difficult situation.
Please join me in supporting this great cause that has already provided much needed help to my family.
