The Britto Group Rounding the Bases for CHASA
This is our agency's 5th Annual Charity Softball Tournament and we were inspired to choose this charity based on an amazing story (from a friend) about an adorable little 2 year old boy named Max. While in his mother's womb and during his 2nd trimester, Max experienced an ischemic stroke on the left side of his brain and was later diagnosed with Spastic Right Hemiplegia (form of cerebral palsy) as a result. The injury has affected Max's speaking function and left him with a constant state of contractions on the left side of his body. Max works hard every week in physical and speech therapy and CHASA is there to help many others families with similar circumstances.
CHASA's goal is to help families affected by hemiplegia (pediatric stroke) by providing information and support on different types of treatment, orthodics and even college scholarships. They also host an annual retreat for affected families and co-sponsor a symposium to gather pediatric researchers to find a cure. Although it may not affect you, every child is worth it so, please donate. Just look at Max's beautiful smile at his mothers blog www.maxismighty.com and you'll see.
To raise money for CHASA, we're hosting a 12 team, co-ed, wooden bat softball tournament on Saturday, September 29th at Pennypack Park on the Delaware. It's a single elimination tournament but, each team is guaranteed to play at least 2 games. The cost is $25 per player (includes a T-shirt) and each team will have a local business sponsor. If you have a company interested in sponsoring a team, please let me know ASAP. As in past years, we'll have a DJ, Moonbounce, raffle baskets, 50/50's and other fun activities. Bring a cooler, your bikes and fishing rods too and enjoy a day of fundraising for a great cause.
