We are calling them the BARC Six. Surrendered by their owner, these dogs were destined to be euthanized by the City of Houston Pound. When no other rescues willing to take a chance on them, SNARR stepped up for all six. Yes, all six!! Tagged within the last hour, these lucky pups will be moved to quarantine boarding. Unfortunately, the 7th dog from this family was immediately euthanized because of twitches and the possibility of distemper.
Although none of the other dogs were showing any symptoms of distemper, BARC decided to euthanize with no further testing. Horrified by the prospect of six dogs dying because they might have been exposed to distemper was unaccepted to the volunteers at SNARR. One only being 6 months old, all descibed as friendly, loving, kind to people and other dogs, none showing any signs of illness, something needed to be done.
SNARR Northeast has agreed to save these dogs now we need the community to do it's part and contribute to our GoFundMe campaign to board, feed and care for these pups for the next month. We will also need to spay/neuter, complete necessary vaccination and treat several of them for heartworms. To do all this for 6 dogs is a big financial committment. Please donate and share our fundraiser to help Meg, Teddy, Beth, Amy, Marmee and Jo!!
