Once upon a time there was a little white church building sitting all sad and lonely, hoping that someone would love and care for it again. The only friend it had was a little birdie that lived in the bell tower.
Far, far away...wait a minute...let me start over - a few blocks away, there lived a dreamer who happened to also be an artist who also happened to love little white churches (and birdies). This artist had a dream to turn a little white church into a place where artists of every kind could do their thing.
One day, the little birdie whispered in the artist's ear and led her to the little white church a few blocks away. A chorus of "Hallelujah" was heard as all the church bells in town rang to see the little white church and the artist unite.
Now the little white church needed to be revived to become a place where artists of every kind could meet safely and easily. Miraculously, people from all over loved this idea and wanted to make it possible.
All of a sudden, a dark cloud was seen covering all of the land, halting all the work, everywhere. Many saw this scary thing and cried out for help. But the little white church and the artist knew that although their plans were put on hold, one day the sun would shine again.
While they waited, a thought occurred to the artist - why not bring the light indoors? The little white church had very ancient lighting that just wasn't very efficient. A grand thought crossed the artist's mind: if the lighting was made new, then once the dark cloud passed by, soon artists of all kinds could use the little white church to create masterpieces!
Hi, I'm Heidi Bacon, I'm an artist and Founder/Executive Director of The Artist Sanctuary. We were able to purchase the little white church building we are in for $1 in 2019, and have been in the process of renovating ever since to allow the space to be more accessible. Much of the work is underway, but we still need funds to update our indoor lighting so artists will be able to create in a "daylight" setting and also to be energy efficient. The church has awesome original light fixtures that will be preserved.
Our progress has been delayed by the Covid 19 cloud, so we're looking at every resource to be able to meet our monthly expenses and also to improve the ancient lighting. Please consider supporting our nonprofit. Any amount you feel moved to donate is very much appreciated! Our mission is to be a catalyst for artists to be successful. Together, with your help, I know we can do it! #SmallBusinessRelief
