The Arc of South Norfolk and Lifeworks have continued to operate serving thousands of people with developmental disabilities during the pandemic. We have created a new webpage with specific updates for our families and partners, we have purchased and delivered Personal Protective Equipment (PPE) to residences in more than 15 towns. Our day program direct care staff have shifted their work to enable them to provide care for our participants within residences. We have managed to support our staff and families through telehealth and ZOOM or YouTube interactive programming. We have provided staff with the technology necessary to work remotely and connect with hundreds of individuals with disabilities in their homes. Administrative staff have prepared our Westwood building by painting and ensuring that it is a safe and secure environment when we can welcome our participants back to in person programming. We intend to continue providing distance learning opportunities as the new norm at The Arc. To accomplish this systems change, we have the need to upgrade our technology. We will provide Smart TVs where programming can be participatory and inclusive of all, whether in our programs physically-or, if participating from home.
