The University of North Texas promotes a service-learning environment to get students engaged in the community. Our group has the task of supporting the local community and we are asking if you can do the same?Denton County has around a million residents, 10% of those are older than 65 and 6% are considered disabled according to the United States Census Bureau. The implication is that tens of thousands of citizens live with daily challenges and sometimes barriers. Our group’s goal is to support The Arc of Denton County by raising funds to help reduce challenges and barriers to the community. We want to make an impact on our community and we need your HELP.
The Arc Of Denton County is a non-profit organization that is focused on supporting independence for those with disabilities. Their mission statement is driven to empower individuals with INTELLECTUAL OR DEVELOPMENTAL/IDD disabilities. It allows them to utilize their rights and freedoms that align with those of all citizens through family support, public awareness, advocacy and referral. All proceeds will assist the organization by providing opportunities for the organizational leaders to improve the standards and quality of life for citizens with developmental disabilities.
