MARJO is a family led Golf Tournament fundraising for leukemia research with the mission of beating leukemia in our lifetime. Mark and Joanna Clausen, their family and friends have been dedicated to finding a cure for three decades and need your help to continue to make an impact in leukemia research.
Every dollar raised for MARJO goes directly to Ebert Labratories of Brigham and Women's Hospital. Under the leadership of Dr. Benjamin Ebert, the Ebert Lab is focused on understanding the biology of leukemia and developing new therapies to treat leukemia and other blood cancers. Since 1990, the MARJO Fundraising Golf Tournament has hosted over 600 participants in the last 29 years and raised more than $300,000 for leukemia research. The lab thanks MARJO for "allowing the lab to purse exciting new discoveries rapidly, as traditional research grants take 9-12 months to get funding. The MARJO has been invaluable to our research efforts and many of our most important important discoveries."
The tournament originated in rememberance of Mark’s father, Paul Clausen. Paul lost his battle to Acute Myelogenous Leukemia (AML) at the young age of 53. Shortly afterward in 1990, Mark and his wife Joanna started a golf fundraiser (nicknamed “MARJO”) to increase awareness and raise funds for research to help develop new therapies to treat leukemia; and ultimately rid leukemia in our lifetime – so that no one like Paul Clausen and many others need to suffer in the future. There are few long-running third-party fundraisers that can compare to The MARJO – Plan to hit the fairway with us at Sandwich Hollows, June 8 2019 to be a part of the MARJO Mission to drive Leukemia out during our lifetime.
Every dollar counts in the fight to beat leukemia! Thank you for your generousity and your support in The MARJO Family's 3-decade mission in raising funds for leukemia research.
