The Derby concluded at noon on October 3rd. We are waiting for any last minute contributions to arrive. We will post the final standings after 6pm.
We all know about the regular Triple Crown of Thoroughbred Racing — the Kentucky Derby, the Preakness, and the Belmont Stakes.
This year, COVID-19 turned all that upside down and sideways, with the Kentucky Derby being September 5th and the Preakness moving to October 3rd. (The Belmont Stakes was already run on June 20th.)
Therapeion’s horses wanted to get into the spirit of the season, but none of them is really in shape for a traditional race -- they work hard to be the patient, well-behaved steeds our clients depend on for classes. Thus, they aren't really practiced at speed, and none of them are thoroughbreds (but don't tell them that). So, we’re enlisting your aid for the next best thing.
Three families of clients have "adopted" Therapeion horses for the Derby. Each family, teamed with a long-time volunteer, is out to raise money to help support Therapeion's mission of healing and hope. You can participate by making a pledge to one or more of the teams. The team that secures the most donations is the winner!
You can make your donations to one or more of the teams to help move them towards the winners circle:
* Team Dude -- jockey Ainsley, trainer Linda
* Team Duke -- jockey Michael, trainer Ginny
* Team Lyle -- jockeys Makyla & Skyla, trainer Gail
The Derby will be open until noon on October 3rd.
All donations should be tax deductible; Therapeion TRC is a 501(c)(3) registered charity.
