Dedicated to stabilizing and empowering Michigan families, keeping them healthy, safe and warm.
Since 1985, The Heat and Warmth Fund (THAW) has been the leading provider of utility assistance for low-income families throughout the state of Michigan.
This winter, thousands of Michigan families will struggle to pay their bills. THAW strives to ensure that families do not have to make a decision between putting food on the table and heating their homes for their family.
THAW acts with on-the-ground help, energy efficiency education, whole home energy and water assessments, case management services, and assistance with electric, gas, and water utilities, so there are:
- dangerous space heaters,
- hospital visits,
- choosing between heating and eating,
- warm homes,
- safe homes,
- hot meals, and
- stabilized and empowered homes.
Our long team goal is to help create stability in the home so that families can stay together, children can go to school and have the ability to cook meals in their homes.
Each year we run out of funding because the need in our communities is so great. We want to raise funds so that we never have to turn someone away that needs help because each person we serve is someone's grandmother, grandfather, sister, neighbor or friend.
