I decided to mark my 60th birthday by running the NYC Marathon. But rather than have it be all about me, I decided to do something about a cause near and dear to my heart. Newfoundland dogs are a noble and unique breed, but sadly not all of them have the lives they deserve. That Newfoundland Place is a very special rescue home, bringing in dogs from backyard breeders, dogs who have health issues, and some who have just had bad luck. They take the time to rehabilitate these dogs in a safe and loving environment, then spare no energy or expense to find them the best possible homes. If you‘ve ever known or been loved by a Newfoundland, you will understand. And if you’ve ever been fortunate enough to be owned by one, you are blessed.
