Inspired by our 10th Anniversary, the Texas Sculpture Group is embarking on its first major publication: 100 Texas Sculptors. This large format, hardcover book will feature all of our artist members and their amazing artwork, with an essay by Glasstire.com arts writer, Christopher Blay. With over 100 artist members throughout the Lone Star State, this book aims to be a major contribution to documenting the arts in Texas.
Our goal is to raise $40,000 to fund the coordination, design, production and distribution of this publication. The book will be professionally designed, printed locally, and available for sale at museums, galleries, and other outlets throughout Texas and beyond. In addition, copies will be made available to curators, arts writers, and gallerists to further promote our artist members - some of the finest contemporary sculptors in Texas.
Your gift of ANY AMOUNT helps the TSG achieve our mission of promoting sculpture as an artform, educating the public regarding the aesthetics of sculpture, and promoting and supporting Texas sculptors. As an official Chapter of the International Sculpture Center, this book will put the arts in Texas in the international spotlight.
The book was to be announced at our 10th Anniversary All-Member Exhibition at the San Angelo Museum of Fine Arts in the summer of 2020. Like many exhibitions and events this year, the show has been postponed until 2021 due to the COVID-19 crisis. This ambitious publication marks a major commitment to our members, until we can get back to our signature exhibitions, discussions, and other good-time get-togethers.
Our membership is growing, the caliber of their work is world-class, and we are committed to investing in the long-term future of contemporary sculpture in Texas.
