Each year, Scottish Rite Hospital touches the lives of more than 27,000 children challenged with orthopedic conditions including scoliosis, clubfoot, hand differences, hip disorders, limb length discrepancies and sports injuries.
After 97 years at the same Dallas location, the hospital has taken a historic step to expand its footprint by building a second facility. Last month, the new Scottish Rite for Children Orthopedic and Sports Medicine Center opened at the northeast corner of Lebanon Road and the Dallas North Tollway. Frisco offers the ideal location to establish a patient access point, as approximately 25% of current patient families reside in communities north of Dallas and tremendous growth is underway in the area. This ambulatory surgery center is an extension of the original Dallas campus and offers clinic visits and day surgeries for children with sports injuries and other orthopedic conditions.
The center features orthopedic and sports medicine outpatient clinics, a fracture clinic, a leading-edge Movement Science Lab, two operating rooms for day surgeries as well as shelled space for future ORs. There are on-site radiology services, as well as dedicated space for psychology and other ancillary patient services to support the unique integrated care model designed by Scottish Rite Hospital to treat the whole child, rather than simply the condition.
Funds raised through the D Gives 2018 campaign will be used to support the continued expansion of the Frisco campus, as well as patient care and research efforts at the hospital's Dallas campus.
