I’m Not Dead Yet! I can’t believe I’m writing to you again this year about the annual Parkinson’s Walk. I was sure last year would be the finale for Ted’s Tattooed Terminators. My Multi System Atrophy-Parkinsonian dominant (MSA-P) continues to advance. I can’t walk more than a few steps, and then not without someone beside me to assist should I begin to tip over. My blood pressure is all over the map. My eyelid apraxia leaves me functionally blind half the time. I’m either in a recliner, wheelchair, or on my “Jazzy” (powered wheelchair) most of my waking hours. These are just the highlights. But life is still good. And God blesses me every day.
I won’t be walking for Parkinson’s again this year. Primary reason: The Walk takes place on the weekend of my newest grandchild’s second birthday, so I’ll be in the Sacramento area. Nothing trumps grandchildren.
There isn’t a lot of research being done on MSA-P but a cure for straight Parkinson’s is getting closer and closer.
I’d like to close out my fundraising “career” with a big thank-you for your support, past and present. Let’s set a goal of $12,000 this year. If you are a procrastinator like me, you may say, “I’m too busy right now; I’ll do it later.” Resist that temptation. Use the link here if you can. If you are “old school” and prefer to write a check, make it out to the Parkinson’s Association of San Diego. And please don’t forget to post this appeal to your Facebook page.
Thanks again for your very generous support! Blessings, Ted
