Black and brown girls* and gender-expansive youth in under-resourced Bay Area communities are being locked out of the STEM revolution. Join us in amplifying their voices and uplifting their STEM journeys.
Techbridge Girls is deeply committed to uplifting pathways for girls and gender-expansive youth from under-resourced communities to achieve economic mobility through high-quality STEM experiences. We are reengineering the way STEM is taught in order to center our girls' brilliance and potential, with an emphasis on engaging BIPOC (Black, Indigenous, People of Color) youth.
Since Techbridge Girls was founded 21 years, we have called Oakland our home. Our girls attend Oakland public schools and live near Silicon Valley, a hub of technological innovation offering high-paying STEM careers that can provide girls with better life chances and economic mobility -- and yet, our girls are still locked out of STEM career paths.
Unlike many STEM programs, our strategies for addressing persistent gaps in STEM education place girls of color at the center of the solution. Our high-quality, girl-centered STEM programs increase girls’ access, belonging, and persistence on STEM pathways. Over the last two decades, we've expanded STEM opportunities for 68,000 Bay Area girls. We now aim to reach an additional 20,000 Bay Area girls over the next few years on our path to 1 million girls across the U.S. by 2030.
How You Can Help:
As we work to increase equitable access to STEM opportunities for 1 million girls across the U.S. by 2030, we invite you to make a gift of $30 as part of our #30for2030 match. A Techbridge Girls Board member has generously offered a match up to $5,000, which will double the impact of your gift!
Your donation will expand access to STEM opportunities for 20,000 Bay Area girls, like Techbridge Girls student Crystal, who says our after-school programming inspired her to “lead through science to help the world... and use the things I’m learning in Techbridge Girls to help others” while pursuing a STEM career.
As we celebrate Women's History Month and uplift our girls' brilliance and contributions, we thank you for joining us in elevating pathways to economic mobility for girls just like Crystal through the joy and discovery of STEM.
*Including cis girls, trans youth, gender non-conforming and/or non-binary youth who experience(d) girlhood as a part of their journey.
