Two men, too soon, now what to do...
Hey there, my name is John McGinley and I have been given the unique opportunity to run the 2018 Boston Marathon as a part of the Tufts Team. A lot of people will ask, "why would you run 26.2 miles when we have cars?" I used to ask that as well, here is what changed:
Two incredible graduates of the Worcester Polytechnic Institute lost their lives too young so now what to do? The first, my brother, Jim McGinley (31) lost his battle with cancer in February of 2016. The second, a good friend, Ryan Sebastian (29) lost his battle with cancer in June of 2017. With barely 60 years between them, both Jim and Ryan left this world in very similar positions. Jim left behind a wife and a son (born a month after his passing) and Ryan left behind a wife, and a newborn son he met for only a matter of days. Both of these incredible men excelled in their personal lives as well as their professional careers. They are both gone but not forgotten. '
This is what I have chosen to do. I ask for you to please donate to my 2018 Boston Marathon fundraising campaign. The money generated will help make sure that families/friends in the future will not have to say goodbye to their loved ones far too soon.
Thank you for taking a moment to read my story,
-John
