After battling pulmonary hypertension for 16 years, I received a heart-lung transplant on July 1, 2016. Pulmonary Rehabilitation programs kicked off my recovery and a focus on exercise helped me gain a level of health I've never experienced. In August 2018 I won two gold medals in cycling races during the Transplant Games of America in Salt Lake City. The following month I summitted Half Dome at 8,842 feet elevation. The contrast between this and my life with PH restricted below 4,000 feet (and often on supplemental oxygen) is a testament to my organ donor and my medical team. I'm excited to meet new exercise goals in 2019 with Team Phenomenal Hope.
