Marin Dance Theatre's Virtual Fall Fundraiser

MDT’s virtual fall fundraiser, “Tutus, Tents and Teamwork,” will kick off on November 1, 2020 with a 2.5-hour live virtual event, the annual Raise The Barre Dance-A-Thon, and continue throughout November with an online auction, fun interviews with alumni and staff, a raffle, and more.

Register and set up a fundraiser page today! It's free and easy. Click on "Register" and choose the free registration option. When you register, you will automatically generate a fundraiser page that you can customize. You will be asked to join one of two teams: Team 1 (current students and families) or Team 2 (faculty/staff, alumni, adult division, friends).

When you register, you can add two additional options: a ticket to the live event on Nov. 1 ( $15 donation per household) and an enrollment ticket for the workshop/performance program ($50 donation per dancer).

Dance-A-Thon
Participants Can Choose A Project As A Challenge

Dance-a-thon participants can choose to challenge themselves with a fun dance project. Simply sharing a fundraiser page and raising money is great on its own, but we’d love to see as many current students as possible (adult division included), sharing their creativity, and we would love to have some alumni and faculty/staff join in, too.

On Nov. 1, those who choose to complete a dance project will describe what they plan to do on their fundraiser page and begin gathering pledges as they work towards their goal. Those who feel comfortable will share a video performance or other project with their sponsors after November 30th.

Option 1: Workshop and Performance

Student participants can choose, as part of their dance-a-thon challenge, to enroll in a November choreography and improvisation program offered by MDT for a $50 donation.  Those who sign up will be offered: two choreography/improv workshops; mentorship from a senior student or alumni, and a one-hour session in an MDT studio with a family member to create a video of a performance (for sponsors). Students do not have to offer a performance to their sponsors if they choose this program. Simply participating in the workshops is fine.

Option 2: Project of Choice

Those who don’t choose Option 1 can choose to do a different project, like creating art and sharing photos with sponsors. Be as creative as you like!  We can set you up with a student mentor to help you choose an idea and set up your fundraiser page.

Option 3: Live Auction group dances only

If you are short on time, it’s fine to only participate in the live event and get pledges for that.

Alumni Option:

MDT Alumni will be sharing stories and video clips of where their journeys have taken them, as well as how their experiences and time spent at MDT shaped and influenced their paths.  Many amazing careers, both in and out of the dance industry, are being lived out by outstanding MDT Alumni.

In December, we will begin offering pay-per-view streaming of MDT performances past and present and we will host a virtual Sophie pajama party that will include streaming of excerpts from Sophie performances throughout the years.
