I've just joined a group of crazy guys and gals (Team Joyful) to participate in the Summit for Life Event taking place on December 8, 2018. The grueling climb at night to the top of Aspen Mountain is nothing compared to those who've had to go through a transplant or have lost a friend or family member. Please help us raise awareness and participate in this fun filled weekend in Aspen! In this exciting event, contestants race (or walk in my case) from the base of Aspen Mountain all the way to the top. They will climb 3,267 vertical feet – over 2.5 miles uphill and at night! Racers climb at their own pace using their own lighting and non-motorized equipment like Microspikes, climbing skins, or other gear.
Summit for Life is the Chris Klug Foundation‘s largest fundraiser of the year. Your funds go to their amazing education and outreach programs. Your contribution will help raise awareness about the importance of organ and tissue donation and living a healthy, active life post transplant. One person can save eight lives through organ donation and improve 100 lives through tissue donation. There are currently over 120,000 people waiting for lifesaving organ transplants nationwide and on average, 22 people die each day from the lack of available organs for transplant.
Founded in 2003 by liver transplant recipient and Olympic Medalist snowboarder Chris Klug, the Chris Klug Foundation (CKF) inspires and educates young adults to increase registration for organ and tissue donation. Through our programs we reach tens of thousands of young people each year, equipping them with facts about organ donation so they can make educated decisions. Each day, thousands of people – people just like you – are waiting for a second chance at life. Our network of generous donors, volunteers and employees share our mission to educate and inspire others about the importance of organ and tissue donation registration, helping to eliminate the wait for those here at home and around the US.
